From Training to Lifesaving Service: William Ibrahim Korman’s Impact Story
My name is William Ibrahim Korman, an alumnus of Cohort 1 (2021) at Community Vitality Solutions CBO. I have always carried a deep passion for health and a strong desire to serve communities in need. My journey began in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, where I enrolled in the one-year Medical and First Aid Training Program offered by Community Vitality Solutions.
This training was more than just an opportunity—it was a life-changing transformation. It equipped me with practical skills, confidence, and the mindset needed to respond to emergencies and support patients effectively, ensuring easier access to quality healthcare services.

Today, I am working with Africa Humanitarian Action (AHA) in Pamir Refugee Camp, South Sudan, serving in the Outpatients Department (OPD)/Triage Unit. In this role, I am often the first point of contact for patients—particularly refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and members of the host community. I assess their conditions and ensure they receive timely and appropriate care based on the urgency of their needs.
“Now, I am applying the skills and knowledge I gained to serve refugee and vulnerable communities in Pamir. Every day, I use what I learned to provide support, prioritize patients, and contribute to quality healthcare services for those who need it most.”
The training opened door to this meaningful opportunity and played a key role in shaping my professional journey in the humanitarian health sector.
“The skills I gained during the training helped me secure this opportunity with AHA. More importantly, they prepared me to make a real difference in people’s lives. Today, I feel proud to serve communities in need and to be part of a system that delivers care and hope in challenging environments.”
From Kakuma to Pamir, my journey reflects how access to skills and opportunity can transform lives—not only for me, but also for the communities I now serve through improved and timely healthcare services.
