WHAT WE DO

We provide four main programs to improve the health and well-being of our community, particularly refugees, forcibly displaced and host. The programs include Health Education, Water, Hygiene & Sanitization, Mentorship on Health-Related Issues, and Reproductive Health Awareness and Support. Each program aimed at improving the health and well-being of our community, with a particular focus on refugees, forcibly displaced and host community educating, empowering, and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to overcome challenges, improve their health status, and contribute to a better future for their community.

Medical and First Aid Health education

Provides refugee communities in Kakuma with essential lifesaving skills, and knowledge enabling them to respond effectively to emergencies and fostering community resilience.

Reproductive Health Awareness and Support (RHAS)

Empower young refugee girls and youth with knowledge on self-awareness and reproductive health, promoting informed and healthy choices through educating and empowering individuals on reproductive health matters, including access to relevant services and guidance.

Water, Hygiene & Sanitization (WASH)

Promotes a clean and safe environment by training women, youth, and children on hygiene practices, reducing water- and sanitation-related diseases, and supporting environmental conservation aimed at promoting safe water practices, proper sanitation, and hygiene to prevent illnesses.

Mental Health, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and Stress Management.

Provides trainings and workshops to equip refugee youth, women, and adults with skills to manage stress, cope with trauma, and respond to psychological challenges, promoting resilience and emotional well-being. It promotes mental well-being, resilience, and emotional stability in challenging environments.

Refugee Child Literacy & Numeracy Project (RCL)

The RCL Project is implemented by Community Vitality Solutions CBO in Kakuma refugee camp and designed to empower refugee and host community children aged 5–12 years with essential foundational literacy, numeracy skills, and social play-based learning. It aims to bridge the learning gap by providing inclusive, accessible, and engaging basic education opportunities within communities in Kakuma refugee camp settings.

The RCL Project stands as a beacon of hope for refugee children in Kakuma Refugee Camp, nurturing their potential and opening grassroots pathways for a brighter future through the power of education. By focusing on literacy, numeracy, and social learning, the project supports the holistic development of young learners and builds the foundation for a resilient.

Project Goal

To enhance access to quality basic education for refugee and host children by equipping them with basic literacy, numeracy skills, and social learning essential for lifelong learning and development.

Objectives:

  • To improve reading and counting skills among refugee children through structured literacy, numeracy and social play-based learning.
  • To create inclusive social learning spaces that support child-centered education approaches.
  • To engage parents, teachers, and community leaders in promoting early learning.
